Daan van Esch has graduated with an MA in Asian Studies in 2012 and now works at Google in California. The workshop will take place via a live video feed from there. Working as a Technical Program Manager in the Speech Recognition and Synthesis team, Daan is well versed in the details of working at Google. 
The presentation will cover a day in the life of a Google employee, give an overview of the organization, and touch upon various positions that might be interesting to humanities graduates. For those students eager to turn their academic skills into marketable ones for industry positions at tech companies like Google, this workshop will prove indispensable. The workshop will be followed by a Q&A session.

Why kid ourselves? Finding a job sucks! Why not create your own future? It's as easy as finding an idea and sticking with it!

In the workshop “Start your own business in 30 minutes” we will kick-start you. We will work in groups to find engaging and innovative ideas that fit you. Culminating in a friendly 'pitch battle' with a prize for the winner! This workshop is organized by members of Lugus, the Leiden student entrepreneurship society. 
At Lugus, student entrepreneurs share support, expertise and resources. Our co-working space is located at Reuvensplaats 2, next to the Lipsius building.  Membership is €2,50 a month. It includes a working space with a fast internet connection, free coffee, free printing and access to regular events to help ideas and companies grow. We have a productive and interactive atmosphere.

Wilkens c.s. is a Leiden based translation agency. However, it is not a company that merely  employs translators. The workshop given by Wilkens c.s. is for everyone with an interest in commerce and business services in the world of international communication. All you need is affinity with languages, a language degree isn’t mandatory: most employees at Wilkens c.s. have a Master of Arts.
Wilkens c.s. deals with all varieties of commerce trajects such as sales, consultancy and execution. They work with a large database of external translators. In order to keep pace with the growth of the firm they are looking for graduates interested to work as account managemer and project managemer.
